The Special Property

On the 110th anniversary of Max Immelmann's death

Shortly before his death in 1916, Immelmann was awarded the “Iron Crescent,” a high honor of the Ottoman Empire, which was an ally of the German Empire at the time. For Immelmann’s funeral, the Turkish Sultan Mehmed V Reşad (1844–1918) therefore had the urn ornament—which is now our featured object on the 110th anniversary of his death—sent to Dresden.
