Programmes for schools and after-school groups

Our programmes encourage pupils to engage actively with history while developing knowledge and critical thinking.

Experience history in the museum – varied, interactive and engaging. Here, students encounter original artefacts and discover how the past connects to the present.

Our educational programmes invite pupils to reflect on war and violence. From medieval swords to modern military drones, the exhibits bring history vividly to life.

Choose from introductory tours covering different historical periods as well as thematic tours and workshops. We’ll be happy to advise you on choosing and planning your visit.

All activities for schools are free of charge. School groups are not charged admission. Teachers may also visit the museum free of charge in advance to prepare for their class visit.

Let me show you something from the museum

This interactive tour guides the children through the museum. They become familiar with the building and discover how the museum tells the story of violence and war through exhibits selected with children in mind. The young participants are given plenty of space for their questions and thoughts. They express their impressions through a creative activity, creating something they can take home with them and share with their families.

Exploring history

Exhibits are historical sources. What do they tell us about the past? What role does the museum play in this? During the guided exploration, students investigate these questions together. They decide which objects they would like to examine and discuss.

They select significant exhibits and present them to their classmates during a joint tour. The result is a tour shaped by the pupils themselves. Students are encouraged to explore the museum independently.
